WHERE THE POPULAR RESIN DRIVEWAY BEGAN
Originally pioneered in the US following advances made in epoxy and polymer, the use of dried aggregates bound or bonded in resin appeared on the UK market around 25 years ago and continue to be a popular option today.
The wide range of colour shades available give a great alternative to paving or tarmac and can be selected to complement the surrounding areas. The market for this type of finish increases year on year as homeowners across Surrey, Richmond, Cobham, Walton on Thames and Twickenham acknowledge the extra choices that are now available to them.
Essentially, decorative or coloured aggregates are bound or bonded within clear or coloured resin that is coated over the existing surface, providing it is solid and unbroken. The resin bonds with the original surface creating a whole new finish. Investing in quality materials, our products are resistant to petrol and oil spills and UV, meaning they will not fade or discolour. Having managed countless installations over the years, we can also create your chosen pattern or design using different coloured stones, perfect in creating a unique driveway that matches the style of your property and the rest of your garden. With endless options to choose from, you can add the perfect addition to your outdoor space with Resin Ways Ltd.

"We had our driveway, patio and the sides done, so you could say a 360 degree job, in September 2020. I have to say the team worked very quickly and the job was done I think it was within 5 days. I cannot rate a resin driveway enough and every day that passes we are so pleased that we invested in having it done. James was true to his word in letting us have some extra bags of stones for the borders which we are so grateful for. Looking forward to spring coming in that I should have no weeds. Thank you"

RESIN BOUND OR BONDED?
These terms relate to the two types of finish available. Bound involves pre-mixing resin and aggregates for a trowelled, smooth finish, whilst bonded is quicker and involves loose gravel applied to a resin coat for a gravel-like finish.
Driveways are the ideal application for resin-bonded aggregates. This cheaper method involves applying the resin over a suitable base using a squeegee, and then ‘scattering’ the chosen dried aggregate over the tacky resin before it sets. Some systems use pre-coated aggregates, whilst others rely on applying a resin over the scattered stone to seal the system, or it can be left with a gravel-like open textured finish.
Often referred to as hand trowelled, the durable aggregate is blended with the resin prior to application and is trowelled to a smooth level finish. This allows the talented team at Resin Ways Ltd to create various patterns by using contrasting stone colours, perfect if you're looking for something unique.
Both applications must be applied in dry, warm conditions and can be used lightly within 12 to 24 hours.
